The Clearwater Casino Resort, officially called the Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort, is a casino resort complex in Suquamish on Puget Sound in Washington State. There are a lot of casinos and poker rooms in the state of Washington though, and Washington is a lot like California where gambling law is concerned, allowing poker rooms but not allowing other casino gaming except on Indian lands.
It’s probably true that they’d prefer not to have these other casino games in their state at all, but the Indians do have certain rights to offer gambling on their lands, and the state has gotten together with the tribes to come up with agreements and casino gambling on Indian land is pretty big here.

The casino and card room industry, like in California, is pretty powerful, and while the California tribes have held up online poker regulation in the state for several years now, with no end in sight, in Washington the gambling lobby has managed to get passed the only law in the United States specifically prohibiting online gambling.
Suquamish Clearwater Casino Resort is a naturally breathtaking casino and hotel nestled among the pines and cedars of the scenic Kitsap Peninsula. Its only a Ferry ride away from Seattle, take the Seattle to Bainbridge Island ferry though!! Its between Poulsbo and Bainbridge.
So online gambling sites steer well clear of Washington State, and gamblers here have to go out to the brick and mortar casinos and poker rooms to get their fix. One of these places is the Clearwater Casino Resort, only a 30 minute ferry ride from Seattle, and of course the trip over on the ferry can be an enjoyable and scenic one as well.
The Suquamish Indian tribe, which operates this casino resort, originally purchased the land for it back in 1988, to open up a smoke shop. This was before the days when Indian casinos were around, and there were no plans to open one at the time.
They did end up opening a bingo hall on the site as well in 1992, and the seeds for the gambling center that was to follow were now planted. In 1995, the first casino on the property was built, housed in a tent initially, for 8 years, until a permanent casino building was erected in 2003.
In 2006, they added an 85 room hotel to the complex, and although most of their traffic is walk up, this allowed guests to actually stay with them instead of just commuting across Puget Sound, and stay longer as well.
In 2015, a new 7 story hotel tower was built, adding another 98 hotel rooms, as well as a new convention and meeting center. There are more plans for further expansion in the coming years, and they just added a 300 seat sports bar and lounge, with more expansion planned for the future.
Clearwater Casino Resort Features
For a hotel of a fairly modest size of less than 200 rooms, Clearwater certainly does have a lot of variety as far as the range of accommodations they offer. They have a good selection for everyone here, from guests on a budget to those who can afford to spend a lot.
They start you out with value rooms, with a choice of king or queen, and these rooms might be value priced but they do come with a lot of niceties. They also have premium king and queen rooms, which offer better furnishings and more space. Then there’s their lineup of suites, and there’s lots to choose from, starting with their value suites. They have several selections as far as their premium suites go, and the better ones offer some pretty nice digs indeed, with some very nice views of Puget Sound.
Both smoking and non smoking rooms are available, and some hotels these days don’t even offer smoking rooms, but if you do smoke, you certainly don’t want to have to go outside to do it.
Clearwater is considered a resort as well as a hotel and casino, and the resort part comes from their Angeline Spa, with 7 treatment rooms and state of the art equipment, open 7 days a week.
There are 6 restaurants to choose from here, featuring The Clearwater, offering fine dining with fresh ingredients, locally sourced when possible. The Beach Glass Café offers more casual dining with a glass wall and glass column made from recycled glass collected at local beaches.

Overall, this is a friendly and well run casino that really appeals to those in the Puget Sound area, although it’s good enough to merit a trip to it as well if you’re looking to visit the Pacific Northwest and want to get some casino gambling in.
