Romanian Gambling License
The National Gambling Office regulates the Romanian gambling market. It is empowered to enforce the law and competent to grant licences and authorisations to gambling organisers. It is a specialised body of the central public administration, subordinated to the Romanian government. Sea-Bet received its Romanian online license in August 2017, and while its fixed-odds betting license was valid for 10 years, its online casino license appears to have expired at the end of July.
However, the online gambling amendments are considered the most important ones that would enable foreign gambling operators become available on the Romanian gambling market. According to the legislation, online gambling operators are eligible for obtaining a license in one of the three classes. The trader organization seeking license and authorization for online gambling practice must meet the following general conditions: a) be constituted as a legal person under under the Romanian law, whose main business activity is 'gambling and betting', NACE Code 9200, and the share capital to be subscribed and paid up according to the law.
